A Review of BMW 2 Series

BMW is a traditionalist at heart and has graced automotive history with many timeless classics. BMW 2 Series Coupe is one of them. While all the other top auto manufacturers are turning their attention to the electric and hybrids, BMW is sticking to the purist approach by introducing pure internal combustion power units to accommodate those who like to have something bigger than a hatchback but more economical than the BMW 3 Series.

BMW 2 Series is an impressive package. It’s shorter yet accommodative and sharp yet efficient. It is traditionally two-wheel drive that sits well with BMW enthusiasts; however, you can get all-wheel drive as well if you are too afraid to get stuck in the snow.

Effective and Capable BMW Engines

BMW had always been generous with the engine choices to power the 2 Series Coupe. There have been two separate generations up until now and both boast a variety of capable and fuel-efficient engines. The first generation was introduced in 2014 and went on till 2021. The base power unit started from a unit that produced 136 hp and went on up to 245 hp. There were also engines introduced around 2019/20 where theses started from 136 hp and went on to 306 hp. The second generation was revealed in 2021 and brought a new wave of engines that were capable of producing 122 to 326 hp. The new wave of engines includes plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid electric vehicles. If you are looking for any replacement BMW engines, click here.

Striking Looks

Without a doubt, it is one of the best-looking compact Coupe when you make a comparison. Due to the longitude ways placed the engine on the front, the front is longer than usual which makes the car looks great. The front grill and lights are of great proportion and do not look out of place at all. The front bumper and bonnet have aerodynamic features that help the vehicle slip through the air.

Once you get passed the bonnet, the vehicle does not take long to finish. The side profile is impressive and at the rear, you get a spoiler incorporated in the boot lid with contemporary backlights illuminating the rear.

How Nice is the Cabin

BMW has made a habit of providing almost the same instruments and controls to all of their offerings with obvious proportional requirements according to trim and model. The iDrive system is controlled by either the centre console or by touch screen. The quality of the materials gives an overall expensive feel. The driving position is perfect. Seats are of the great shape and grip the driver or the front passenger perfectly.

Being a coupe, it is not spacious at the back though and passengers in the back might not feel so good. Leg and headroom are not what you call comfortable. However, the good news is that the seats fold down and make the capacity of this vehicle to hold the luggage great.

On Road Performance

The party piece of this vehicle is without a doubt its refined engine lineup. If you go for the performance variant then you do realize that the engines mean business and have a special place in history. The light and responsive suspension make this vehicle an absolute sensation in the corners. The car is planted and the sophisticated electronic stability hardly lets it go sideways unless you want it to.

The ride is quite good especially if you opt for the adaptive dampers. This is an excellent choice for daily use and drives smoothly.

Final Verdict

Let us be clear, it’s not a car that suits a sizeable family. However, if you are at a stage where you are just starting with the family and cabin space is not an issue then it is a pure driving joy at affordable charges. It looks fantastic, drives superbly and has a high-quality cabin. There are many variants available that give you the freedom to choose your desired engine output.

The only downside of this vehicle is that it has less space in the back and the passengers at the back are a little stiff and the price is a little on the higher side.
