Diesel engines give the supreme feelings of driving an efficient compact crossover

The Nissan Qashqai is a trend setter in Small Family SUVs. With some of best petrols of its class along with impressively frugal diesels, the Nissan Qashqai is a practical SUV with low running cost of a hatchback.

 

The Nissan Qashqai belongs to a compact crossover family. It was first introduced in 2007, a new experimental entry of a Small family SUV, and no more than a gamble to live with it at that time.

Diesel Engines

With 1.5 DCI-turbo diesels, the Qashqai gives impressive performance with efficient fuel economy. This engine is fast enough and have plenty of power for motorway cruising. It takes 11.9 second to get 0-62m/h sprint. This diesel unit achieves 74.3m/g with excellent low Carbon emissions of 99g/km.

The 1.6-litre DCI-turbo diesel engine is quite large than the previous one. This unit feels stronger, which makes it useful for speed and pulling. It takes 9.9 seconds to get 0-62m/h. It achieves a good fuel economy of 62m/g with 119g/km of emissions. It is equipped with four-wheel drive option and also with X-tronic CVT automatic gearbox.

Petrol Engines

Two petrol engines, 114bhp and 140lb/ft 1.2 litre DIG- turbo and 1.6 litre DIG-turbo with 161bhp and 177lb/ft are there in the market. Both engines are equipped with six-speed manual gear box and the X-tronic automatic gearbox is also available with CVT (Continually Variable transmission) equipment that makes shifting process easy and less noisy. There are two diesel engines; 108bhp and 192lb/ft 1.5litre DCI-turbo diesel and 129bhp and 236lb/ft 1.6litre DCi-turbo.

Quality Driving Experience

The 1.2-litre DIG-turbo petrol engine is also impressive in performance. Though it is an entry-level unit in the range, but it is quiet and muscular with enough power for cruising on motorway. It takes 10.9 seconds to get 0-62m/h. the fuel economy of this tiny engine under the bonnet of a SUV like the Qashqai is impressive.

It gives a figure of 48.7m/g. the other petrol version is a powerful one,  the 1.6 litre DIG-turbo is a decent performer in town driving and motorway cruising. It takes 8.9 seconds to get 0-62m/h with top speed of 124m/h. Though its fuel consumption rate is more than any other available in the range of the Qashqai, but it gives the real pleasure of cruising and acceleration. It gives the figure of 46m/g with 129g/km emissions of Co2.

The Nissan Qashqai offers a high quality of driving experience in its class. The Qashqai is available in front-wheel drive and optional four-by-four versions.
